National News: The Indian Railways has taken a major decision ahead of Chhath Puja. To handle the massive festive rush, the ministry has decided to operate 1,500 special trains within five days. This means about 300 extra trains will run every day, making it easier for passengers to secure tickets. With this move, the government hopes to reduce overcrowding and allow people to reach their homes on time for celebrations.

Aimed at passenger convenience

According to the Railway Ministry, the demand for tickets during Chhath Puja is at its peak, and the step is meant to ensure smooth travel. Officials said that these trains are being arranged to give every traveler a chance to reach their destination without facing chaos. The ministry emphasized that the special trains will cover major routes where demand is highest.

Record rush seen every year

Every year, millions of passengers travel home during Chhath. Railway stations get overcrowded with families, workers, and students returning to their hometowns. This year is no different, as advance bookings are already full and crowds are spilling into stations. The new special services will act as a relief for those struggling to get confirmed tickets at the last minute.

Previous Diwali experience

Just weeks earlier, during Diwali, Indian Railways had successfully managed the festive rush by operating 4,493 special train trips over 21 days. That came to an average of 213 trips daily. Officials say the lessons learned during Diwali will help them manage the even bigger demand during Chhath. With this, Railways hopes passengers will travel safely and comfortably.

A massive seasonal plan

The ministry has revealed that more than 12,000 special trains will be operated in total between October 1 and November 30 this year. Notifications have already been issued for 11,865 trips, out of which 9,338 are reserved and 2,203 are unreserved. Compared to last year, when just 7,724 special trips were run, this is a massive jump in services.

Delhi zone leads the rush

The capital region has already seen record-breaking numbers of travelers. Between October 16 and 19 alone, the Delhi zone handled more than 15 lakh passengers, which is 1.5 lakh more than the same period last year. Stations like New Delhi, Anand Vihar, and Hazrat Nizamuddin are under constant pressure. Officials said the new trains will provide some breathing space for passengers.

Railways promises more trains

The Railway Ministry has assured the public that this is just the beginning. If the rush continues, more trains will be added in the coming days. Officials have asked passengers to check official portals for updates and book tickets early. The aim is simple: no traveler should face hardship in reaching their families during this most important festival of Bihar and eastern India.
